The list of equipment, associated products, spare parts for renewable energy research, study and manufacturing was approved by the Government to be exempt from Customs duty and VAT.

Mongolia’s energy capacity is about 967 MW, 4% of which are the sources of renewable energy.

The Energy regulation authority so far had issued special licenses for five projects on wind and six on solar energy.

The officials estimate growth of renewable energy in the new future with expected investment around US$1 billion.

The Government of Mongolia explained the decision on the tax exemption that the country encourages manufacturers to produce solar panels in the country as well as customers to buy domestically produced products at affordable price.
