Construction of hydropower station was launched on April 6, 2016 to be built in Tavaltai canyon of Khovd river in Nogoonnuur soum of Bayan-Ulgii aimag.

The hydropower station is planned to supply electricity to western three aimags.

92.8MWt station is budgeted at US$248 m with investment of ZTM of Turkey. The Turkish entity developed the feasibility study and obtained special permit in March 2016.

The company said to operate the hydropower station in accordance with the Law on Concession “construction-operation-transfer” at the decision of the Mongolian Government of April 2016.

The company previously had completed the Mongolia’s energy grid general plan.
