Minister of Environment, Green Development and Tourism N.Battsereg paid an official visit to China at the invitation of Chen Jining, Minister of Environment of China.

Minister N.Battsereg raised the question of trilateral cooperation including ministers from Japan, China and South Korea as an observer for transportation and storage of chemical production.

“Most of the chemicals supplied from China, therefore, I am proposing to work together in liquidation of chemical products” Minister said.

According to the Minister, statistics of 2014 revealed Mongolian companies storing expired chemical waste that fail to comply with quality standards. PetroChina Dachin Tamsag holds about 500 tons and Zonheutian 300 tons accordingly.

Minister Chen Jining said the development of friendly relations between two countries in recent years and highlighted that environmental issues turned into the high priority matter for developing countries. “We included he bio-ecology issues as a high priority, including water resources and plan to ratify new law on water resources. On the other hand we implement technical renovation aiming to advance power supply through utilization of raw coal”. And he clarified that Mongolia proposed cooperation on liquidation of toxic chemicals shall be accepted.

Chinese Minister also expressed that China is ready to cooperate with China on desertification and dust storms, ecological problems faced to both countries.

Sides resolved to realize project called “Monitoring and assessment of dust storms, desertification in neighboring regions of Mongolia and China”. The project with budget of RMB 3.9 m (US$600,000) to be financed by Government of China as a part of assistance was developed by the National Agency on Meteorology and Monitoring of Mongolia and Academy of Environment of China. 

Negotiations of Ministers ended with the discussion of key topics on economy and ecology.
